This is a lidded stoneware casserole dish with an all over spongeware print in green and brown. The casserole is ribbed all the way around with two small solid side handles. The top lid looks almost like an upside down pie tin with looped handles. The casserole dish is brown and green spongeware print on a cream background. There is no maker's mark, but it looks very similar to other Morton Pottery spongeware.
The dish is in good vintage condition for its age and use. There are no cracks. The lid rim has one small chip that has smoothed over, making it potentially an original defect instead of a chip. The bottom rim has several chips, but these can't be see when the casserole is sitting upright. The inside has discoloration, especially around the inside top rim. The bottom of the inside has several discoloration spots.
The casserole measures 8 inches in diameter at its widest spot. It is 9 inches across from handle to handle. It is 5 inches tall.
