This is the 1888 antique edition of Our Boys: Stories, Poems, and Sketches, edited by Thomas W. Handford and published by Belford, Clarke, & Co. It features an illustrated cover in the Victorian photo album style with flowers and pictures of boys engaged in various activities that wraps around to the back. The cover is in shades of brown, green, pink, and gray. The book includes short stories and poems from classic authors like Louisa May Alcott and Edgar Fawcett. The book is illustrated with black and white drawings and etchings. There are 208 pages.
The book is in good antique condition for its age and use, especially being a book for children and for being 136 years old! The cover has scratches with some small areas of missing print and a larger section of missing print along the spine. There are areas of missing print along the top and bottom of the spine as well. The corners are worn, exposing the cardboard underneath. The spines are still attached. There is a pencil inscription inside the front cover on the first blank page, "Guy Hudson Fond du Lac Wisconsin Aug 26th 1888". The pages are yellowed.
The book measures 7.75 inches by 9.75 inches. It is 1 inch thick.
