This is a vintage 1926 edition of Hans Christian Anderson's Fairy Tales, published by M.A. Donahue & Co. It features a full color gorgeous illustration of a butterfly fairy on the front cover with a red-purple linen spine and an full-color illustration on the back. There is one full-color illustration plate at the title page, but the rest of the book is illustrated in black and white. There are both full illustration pages as well as small illustrations. The book includes favorite stories like The Ugly Duckling, Thumbelina, The Brave Tin Soldier, The Snow Queen, and The Little Sea-Maid, among others. There are 167 pages.
The book is in vintage condition for its age and use. The covers have wear, especially to the corners and edges with staining and discoloration to the illustrations. The spine has several large areas where the linen has worn away, exposing the folioed pages beneath. The spines are attached but cracked and beginning to separate at both front and back. The blank front cover endpaper is torn away. There are pencil markings in the front and back covers. Someone wrote No 3 in the front and Junior Hall + Eva Grace Woolen in the back. The pages are yellowed with foxing.
The book measures 9 by 6.5 inches. It is 1 inch thick.
