This is a painted black wood box with flowers on the lid. The box is painted a matte lacquered black on the inside and outside. There is a lid that sits on top of the top which has painted leaves and flowers in shades of gray, gold, brown, cream, and red. Inside the box there is a removable tray that has also been painted a lacquered black. The bottom of the box has two paper stamps with Japanese kanji and the original price in Yen.
The box is in good condition for its age and use. There is some scuffing and small scratches to the edges of the box and top of the lid. You can see the seams on one side of the box where the other side is more flush to the corners. The stamps on the bottom are yellowed and beginning to peel away. The painting on top is intact with some fading to the gold detailing.
The box measures 9 inches long by 5.5 inches wide. It is 1.5 inches tall.
