This is a lovely landscape watercolor featuring a countryside with old farmhouse. The painting is on watercolor paper mounted on cardboard. The scene looks as if it was painted from some distance, like the artist set up on a hill overlooking a tranquil farm valley. The background has several hills and the foreground has a stile and the farmhouse. The painting is done with a dreamy look in shades of green, blue, and gray. The painting is unsigned and unframed.
The painting is in good vintage condition for its age and use. The painting looks like it might have been framed or matted at some point as there are glue does and attached paper remnants along the edges of the cardboard. The watercolor paper is straight along the bottom but not along the top, so if you were to cut away the cardboard, you'd have to cut away a bit of the top edge of the watercolor painting. The painting itself is in good condition with some foxing and discoloration to the lighter upper portion of the painting. The back is labeled Patrick (Sandy) Cairn South Wales Bergavenny. The label is cut off, so I'm not sure if this is describing the location of the painting or a remnant leftover from using the cardboard. There are also pencil markings 957 / 956 / 9 8-13 Mr. Moores Tent 1 Year [?] 2 Mound. Someone also wrote 1050 in pen. All in all, it's a lovely painting that could use a little work to get it reframed.
The painting measures 16 inches long by 13 inches tall.
