This is a vintage midcentury set of black books with white, silver, and gold lettered spines. The set includes The Language of Computers by Bernard A. Galler, published by McGraw-Hill Book Company in 1962; Beyond Dark Hills by Jesse Stuart, also published by McGraw-Hill, this time in 1966; and The Stars Look Down by A.J. Cronin, published by Little, Brown, and Company in 1935. All three books have black covers. Stars is lettered in silver, Beyond Dark Hills is lettered in gold and silver, and Computers is lettered in white. Stars has stars on the spine and Dark Hills has leaves. Dark HIlls also has six woodcuts by Ishmael. Computers has numerous mathematical charts and graphs. Stars has 626 pages, Dark Hills has 328 pages, and Computers has 244 pages.
The books are in great vintage condition for their age and use. Language has some small brown, white, and gray paint speckles on the front cover and some fraying to the top of the spine. The spines are attached and the pages are minimally yellowed. Beyond Dark Hills has a couple of small discoloration spots to the covers. The spines are attached, and the pages are somewhat yellowed. The Stars has a long scratch on the spine and some small discoloration spots. The spines are attached. Someone wrote Q9199Dt250549 in pencil inside the front cover. The spines are attached. The pages are somewhat yellowed.
Stars measures 8.5 by 5.5 inches. It is 1.5 inches thick. Dark Hills is 8.5 by 5.75 inches. It is 1.5 inches thick. Computers is 9.25 by 6.25 inches. It is 1 inch thick.
