This is the antique 1905 edition of Laura in the Mountains by Henrietta R. Eliot, published by Norwood Press and illustrated by Helena Higganbotham. It features a tan linen cover with brown lettering and an illustration of the eponymous Laura on the cover. The spine is also decorated with flowers. Laura in the Mountains is the sequel to Laura's Holidays. It has black and white illustrations with 135 pages, followed by several advertising pages.
This book is an antique and in fragile condition. The covers have general wear with staining and discoloration, especially to the spine. The spine does have some tearing at the top and bottom. There is also some exposed cardboard along the book's corners and edges. The pages are yellowed, and there are some pages falling out, mostly at the beginning as the cover has detached there and the sewn pages have stretched. There are stamps for the Masonic Temple Library Board St. Louis, MO in the first few pages. The back cover has cracked at the top half but is whole on the bottom half. The title page has been taped in, and two ink marks in the front cover - 70 and 3159.
The book measures 6.5 by 5 inches. It is 1 inch thick.
