This is a set of two antique school readers - Fanciful Tales by Frank R. Stockton and The Wonders of the Jungle by Prince Sarath Ghosh. Fanciful Tales has a gray cover with black lettering and decorations for both spine and cover. It was published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1922. There are 5 stories with 4 black and white etching illustrations. It has 135 pages with several Suggestions for Teacher pages at the end. The Wonders of the Jungle has tan covers with black lettering and illustrations with gray detailing. It was published by D.C. Heath & Co. in 1915. It has 16 chapters with 21 black and white illustrations. There are 190 pages.
Both books are in good antique condition for their age and use. Their covers have general wear with some fading of the lettering and detailing as well as some staining and discoloration. The corners and edges are worn with some fraying. Wonders of the Jungle has some wrinkling and staining as if it got wet at some point, but there is no mold and no musty smell. The covers are attached on both books, and both books have yellowing to the pages. Fanciful Tales has a Kampville School stamp inside the front cover. Wonders has pencil markings inside the front cover and on some pages. It also has a pencil inscription From Helen Sunday May 28 1950.
Fanciful Tales measures 7.25 inches by 5 inches. It is .75 inches thick. Wonders is 7.5 inches by 5 inches. It is .75 inches thick.
