This is a Red Shield Classics vintage pocket edition of Black Beauty by Anna Sewell with 245 pages. It features a gray cover with black lettering and the title inside a red shield. The spine is lettered in black. This edition was published by Educational Publishing Company in 1927. It is illustrated with black and white illustration plates throughout, as well as decorations to start and end some of the chapters.
This book is in vintage condition for its age and needs to be handled with care. There is general wear to the covers and spines with discoloration / staining. The spine's have nearly detached at both front and back covers. Someone wrote A.C.E. 1928 inside the front cover in ink. Someone else wrote 1936-1937 ABCDEFG in pencil next to the title page. The pages are yellowed.
The book measures 6.5 inches by 4.5 inches, and is three-quarters of an inch deep.
