Benson’s Confectionary Queen Mary Tin

$22.00

This is a Bensons Confectionery Tin with the R.M.S. Queen Mary on the lid. The Queen Mary was a Cunard ocean liner that launched its first voyage in 1937 and went to drydock in 1967. The sides of the tin have the famous toffee man Bensons logo and information about the toffees and the company. Bensons was started in Bury, England in 1900 as Pickles & Hargreaves, selling jams, jellies, relishes, and other sauces. Eventually, they switched to sweets and changed their name to Bensons. Bensons finally closed their doors in 1989, but you can still find their tins, like this lovely one! The inside of the tin is silver and the underside of the lid is decorated with a red Bensons logo.

This tin is in good vintage condition for its age and use. The lid is hinged and opens easily, but it is dented on one side so it doesn't close fully. The metal on the tin has tarnished with one larger rust area to the left lower corner of the lid. The sides of the lid and body have tape residue from where the tin must have been sealed. There is one area of missing print on the top of the lid next to the farthest left smokestack.

The tin is 8 inches long and 5 inches wide. It is just over 1.75 inches tall.
